Job Description

VP of Sales and Marketing

Responsible for organizing, planning, staffing, and controlling the Company’s sales, marketing and Product Line activities. Leads in the development and implementation of the new business, marketing, and sales strategies of the Company. Participates in product planning by communicating current and future customer and market requirements to product line management, engineering and operations personnel.  Acts as a high level negotiator and Company representative in key business situations.
Reports directly to the President.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Plans, controls, organizes, and staffs direct employees and independent contractor representatives engaged in the sales, promotion, marketing and product line management of Company products worldwide.
  • Leads the strategic business development and product planning process as a key member of the executive management team.
  • Conducts in-depth analysis of current and anticipated business conditions, customer requirements, the position of Company products in terms of the state-of-the-art, the Company’s leadership and distribution capability, and develops appropriate short and long range business development plans.
  • Determines overall business development approach to accommodate different customer and market segment requirements.  Responsible for development and maintenance of favorable customer relationships.
  • Responsible for all Company reporting and presentations related to sales, marketing, new business and product line development plans, results and supporting activities.
  • Responsible for developing of sales tools and training programs, trade show participation, sales promotion activities, and Company web site content.  Selects external agencies and services to support the development of these activities as may be required.
  • Recommends product specification and modifications in the development of new products, based on market research, feed-back from the sales force, trade shows, product line team activities and direct interrelationships with customer personnel.
  • Develop strategy and negotiate business agreements with major customers including price, performance service levels and contract terms and conditions in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Primary responsibility for development and management of budgets for the sales and product line teams to support Company strategic and operating plans. 
  • Extensive travel to major customers to insure that customer satisfaction is at a high level and that new business opportunities are identified, developed, captured and executed to Company and customer requirements.
  • Responsible for the development and mentoring of key personnel (Business Unit Managers)

QUALIFICATIONS
 
  • Must have an in-depth knowledge of sales and marketing principles and techniques, Company products, Company philosophy, business strategies, and objectives.
  • Must have the ability to plan, develop, organize, and implement major sales and marketing programs and to manage multi-disciplined sales and product line teams in these activities.
  • Must have technical understanding of all Company mechanisms and products.
  • Advanced degree in Business/Marketing, Engineering or Operations management is desirable or equivalent business management experience of 10 to 15 years.
  • Must know Profit & Loss Income statements
  • Must be fluent in Word and Excel
  • Communication skills must be excellent
