Job Title: Test Engineer Technician
Job Summary
The Test Engineer Technician plays a key role in developing and maintaining product testing infrastructure. This position requires strong electrical wiring and assembly skills to build and modify test fixtures, harnesses, and automated test equipment. The Technician collaborates closely with the test engineering team to translate designs into functional test solutions that ensure high product quality.
Primary Responsibilities

Fixture & Equipment Assembly: Build, wire, and assemble test fixtures, harnesses, and test equipment using engineering schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.

Reading & Interpretation: Accurately interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and wiring diagrams to ensure proper assembly.

Wiring & Soldering: Perform point-to-point wiring, harness routing, and component installation. Execute high-quality soldering and crimping.

Maintenance & Calibration: Conduct routine maintenance, repair, and calibration of test fixtures and equipment.

Collaboration: Work with electrical test engineers to troubleshoot issues, provide design feedback, and validate new test equipment.

Component Installation: Install and mount various electrical components such as terminal blocks, circuit breakers, fuses, relays, and sensors.

Quality & Safety: Perform visual inspections and continuity checks. Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized workspace.

Other Duties: Perform additional duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree preferred.

Experience: 2+ years in electrical assembly, panel building, or related roles, with experience in building test fixtures or equipment.

Technical Skills:

Proficient in reading electrical schematics and wiring diagrams

Skilled with hand and power tools used in electrical assembly (e.g., multimeters, soldering irons, crimpers)

Solid understanding of electrical wiring principles and color codes

Attention to Detail: High standards for quality and accuracy in a fast-paced environment

Problem-Solving: Effective troubleshooting skills for resolving wiring and assembly issues
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with terminal blocks, wire gauges, and various connector types

Familiarity with test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies

Knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards for cable and wire harness assemblies
