Job Description
CNC programmer is responsible for the creation of cost effective CNC machine programs and tooling diagrams for prototype and production parts under minimal supervision and tight time lines. Interacts as a liaison with R&D department in the development of prototypes and final transfer of parts to manufacturing. Performs maintenance and optimization of existing machine programs.
Key Responsibilities:
Act as a liaison with R&D team in the new products development phase, including initial
prototyping and ultimately manufacturing transfer at a scaled-up level.
At the direction of manufacturing management, perform maintenance and optimization of
existing machining processes.
Study specifications such as blueprints dimensions, sketches, models, or descriptions, and
visualizes product to determine materials, cutting tools required, and machines to be used to
fabricate prototype parts or final manufactured parts.
Determining optimal machining methods and sequence of operations to limit variability, extend
tool life, decrease machine cycle times, curb the need for secondary operation (i.e. deburring),
and ultimately reduce manufacturing costs.
Development and verification/validation of CNC machine programs and set-up parameters for
prototypes, new parts, or updates to existing part processing. Create documentation as
required.
Understanding machine/program capabilities, assist in the development/optimization of control
plans to ensure the machining output meets specification with a high degree of assurance.
? Train machinists and set up crew on machining methods for new or optimized machining
processes.
? Assist in trouble shooting day to day machining issues.
? Audit machining process to improve efficiency, process control, and quality.
? Proficient with Solidworks or similar CAD software and geometric dimension & tolerances
(GD&T).
? Maintain a positive work atmosphere.
? Continue to grow lean knowledge and use the tools to identify and assist with continuous
improvement.
? Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
Education and/or Experience:
? 1 to 3 years of hands on CNC machining knowledge, including introductory programming
experience of machining equipment or similar.
? Must be able to read, interpret and work from engineering prints, drawings and sketches.
? Ability to understand and manipulate G and M Code.
? Demonstrated proficiency with Solidworks or similar CAD software and geometric dimension &
tolerances (GD&T).
? Proficiency in effectively installing and changing tooling, setting up parts, and editing programs
for Citizen CNC Swiss Screw Machines.
? Previous experience working in a cGMP and/or ISO regulated environment.
? Ability to work independently, as well as with an interdisciplinary teams.
? Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
? High School Diploma or equivalent, some college or certificate course work highly preferred.
