Job Description
A full-service accounting firm is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join their team. The ideal candidate will bring an entrepreneurial spirit, strong technical knowledge, and demonstrated team leadership skills.
Compensation is commensurate with skills, experience, and long-term expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review tax returns for closely held businesses and their owners, many of whom have complex, ultra-high-net-worth financial situations. Engagements include partnerships, S corporations, trusts, and individuals.
- Oversee external tax service providers to ensure accuracy and timely delivery.
- Manage workflow, data collection, and team performance to meet self-established deadlines. Conduct informal check-ins to track progress and align on expectations.
- Respond to federal, state, and local tax inquiries and audit requests.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and lead or support implementation efforts to enhance firm capacity and efficiency.
- Take ownership of firm-wide outcomes and performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Taxation.
- Minimum of 8 years of tax compliance and consulting experience.
- At least 4 years of managerial experience in a tax environment.
- Active CPA license is required
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Proven ability to co-lead and manage firm performance, including independent decision-making responsibilities.
- Interest in how comprehensive tax planning aligns with financial planning and wealth management to deliver goal-driven outcomes for clients.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Taxation and/or prior experience at a large CPA firm.
- Strong background and interest in income tax law, estate planning, and other niche tax areas.
- Willingness to adopt and implement new technology tools and process improvements to enhance tax operations.
