Job Description

Global leader in design and deployment of custom Robotics and Automation equipment has immediate need for Sr. Engineering Project Manager.

SUMMARY
Overall responsibility for concepting, costing, quoting, and supporting innovative robotic automation solutions employing the latest processes and technologies to achieve company sales goals and market strategies. This position also has overall responsibility for the safe, efficient, and profitable execution of custom robotic systems/projects to the satisfaction of the customer.  This includes coordinating all outside vendors and in-house staff throughout the project.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.
 
  • Achieve individual assigned booking goal of $4,000,000 plus.  (Booking goal will be periodically adjusted based upon company goals and market conditions).
 
  • Initiate and provide follow-up communications with Regional Sales Managers (RSM) and customers for every assigned request for quotation (RFQ).
 
  • Evaluate and verify process and technical feasibility of potential sales opportunities.
 
  • Create cost-effective, innovative, and efficient robotic automation concepts to meet customer needs.
 
  • Develop vendor specifications and evaluate vendor quotations for standard and custom equipment.
 
  • Generate detailed, complete, and accurate cost tracking sheets that include all required standard and custom equipment, engineering, design, manufacturing, application programming, and on-site support services for comprehensive, complex robotic applications.
 
  • Generate professional sales quotations.
 
  • Interpret engineering drawings, process sheets, design models, statistical process control requirements, and geometric design tolerances as applied to part designs and manufacturing processes.
 
  • Generate process sheets and perform cycle time estimates.
 
  • Perform various technical calculations and engineering analyses to properly specify the correct robot for an application.
 
  • Responsible for the overall contract execution.
 
  • Will be responsible for assisting/leading, generating and managing project schedules, managing project budget and helping set resource priorities.
 
  • Attend project kick-off meeting and prepare the project team to ensure that objectives are accomplished in accordance with established priorities.
 
  • Issue a schedule for all projects within one week of order acceptance.  Provide timely updates per procedure.
 
  • Responsible for committing to delivery schedule before order acknowledgment is sent to Contract Administrator.
 
  • Responsible for monitoring and reporting the cost to complete throughout the project.
 
  • Coordinating and assisting in solving technical problems during and at customer site.
 
  • Responsible for machine acceptance and sign-off, along with customer milestone invoicing.
 
  • Work with Accounting and Sales to help collect/negotiate past due accounts.  Generate, handle, and track all Project Engineering Change Orders.  ECOs can be generated by other project members.  All are submitted to the Project Manager to decide how they are approved, charged to customer, or are otherwise implemented.
 
  • Complete closed order analysis after final acceptance by the customer at customer site, and generate historical data for lessons learned by all departments.
 
  • Has a strong understanding of robotic systems.
 
  • Make recommendations to RSMs regarding contractual issues.
 
  • Maintain highest level of safety and quality standards.
 
  • Generate and maintain administrative tools to effectively control schedules, margins, utilization, costs, etc., as required.
 
  • Must be able to multitask, i.e. will be assigned several projects at one time.
 
  • Adhere to all corporate and department ISO policies and procedures to maintain quality standards.
 
  • Requires a working knowledge of industry standards.
 
  • Guide the project team to design and develop robotic systems to meet customer specifications and/or project requirements.
 
  • May conduct or help design tests and interpret data to assure success during project validation or verification.
 
  • Facilitate design reviews and other required meetings with customer and/or other departments to ensure sound designs and drawing accuracy.  Distribute data to involved team.
 
  • Possess strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
 
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
 
  • Travel to customer facilities to collect data, present ideas, and assist General Managers, Regional Sales Managers and Project Engineers. A valid drivers license is required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s of Science in related field and ten to twelve years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
