Job Description
Defines and specifies the implementation of standards, methods, and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision, accuracy and reliability of company products.
Develops, implements, and maintains quality assurance and control systems and activities. Participates in review of engineering designs to contribute quality requirements and considerations. Assists product support areas in gathering and analyzing data. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. Establishes operational objectives and work plans. Facilitates senior management’s review of objectives to determine success of operation.
Essential Functions:
- Oversee vendor quality assurance.
· Develop specific programs that will provide the appropriate level of product quality and reliability, customer service and customer satisfaction.
· Prepare and implement quality improvement plans, and set quality performance metrics/targets for the operation that assess the effectiveness of the quality system.
- Develop and administer schedules and performance requirements.
- Establish/revise guidelines and procedures that define the Quality Assurance function involvement in design review and new product introduction.
- Work with internal departments and external suppliers to gather failure analysis data, preventive action and/or corrective action to ensure that process improvement initiatives are implemented to correct product or process deficiencies.
- Provide senior management visibility to problems related to product quality, business issues, and the corrective actions that have been put in place to correct these problems.
- Act as an advisor to subordinate(s) to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems.
- Oversee company internal quality audit program.
- Manage the company’s vendor approval and QUEST program including maintaining and continually enhancing practices/procedures.
Role Qualifications:
- Strong organizational and communication skills; both written and verbal. Good computer and presentation skills.
- Exposure to precision mechanical and/or electronic devices inspection techniques.
- Familiarity with ISO standards and audit functions.
- Knowledge of quality control and quality assurance systems.
- Familiarity with quality principles and problem solving tools.
- Ability to interpret statistical data. Must demonstrate good problem solving, leadership/management and technical skills.
- Good interpersonal and team development skills.
- Requires a strong, positive, driving, “can do” attitude.
- Have the ability to be instrumental in leading cultural changes specifically developing/nurturing a culture of “high quality products & services.”
Education and Experience:
- Minimum Bachelor's degree or equivalent: preferably in a technical discipline.
- Minimum 10 years experience in the quality assurance field with at least 5 years experience in quality management.
