Job Description - Production Planner
This position is for a Production Planner to plan and prepare production schedules for the manufacturing of precision light measurement equipment: Creates the master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates for customer orders and main production units for book to bill.

Qualifications
Education: B.A./B.S. in Business Management, Business Economics, Logistics,
Industrial Management, or equivalent
Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of planning in manufacturer settings
Language: English proficiency required, Mandarin Chinese or Spanish is a plus
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Analyzes production specifications and plant capacity data and performs mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, tools, and human resource requirements.
  • Will make recommendations for the amount of human resources needed to complete production goals.
  • Will coordinate order material receipts with focus on WIP throughput and inventory turns.
  • Plans and schedules workflow for each department and operation accordingly to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
  • Develop sequence of fabrication, assembly, in-process test, and other manufacturing operations for guidance of production team members.
  • Works closely with other departments and team members on cross functional teams, and clearly communicate progress to interested parties of how production is progressing on assigned projects.
  • Identifies and tracks potential delays/roadblocks in operations, and alters schedules to compensate for unforeseen conditions
  • Collects data for production reports.
  • Performs time studies in order to determine how long certain tasks take.
  • Develops plans for streamlining processes so that operations may flow more smoothly.
  • Drive and implementation of Lean initiatives.
  • Prepare purchase requests to obtain materials, tools, and equipment.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Can read manufacturing drawings, schematics, and BOM’s (Bill of Materials)
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, Project)
  • Production control and scheduling
  • Work order control and management
  • Understands the manufacturing process thoroughly, and has reasonable expectations as to what can be accomplished in a certain timeframe
  • Good time management skills and capable of working with minimum supervision
  • Has proven problem-solving skills, and can easily change direction to get the expected results
  • Apply a sense of urgency, commitment, and focus on the right priorities
  • Possess good math, verbal communication, and writing skill
  • Takes ownership and coordinates others with process accountability for the project to be completed on time, in budget and to specification.
  • Understanding of financial and operational performance metrics
Pay Range: $30 - $35/Hr
