Location: Mira Mesa, CA
Job Type: Contract to Hire, Part time 20 hours

We are a boutique law firm located in Mira Mesa, CA, dedicated to providing high-quality legal services in civil litigation. Our team is committed to delivering client-focused representation and achieving favorable results. We are seeking an experienced Civil Litigation Paralegal to join our growing team and provide critical support to attorneys throughout the litigation process.
Position Overview
The Civil Litigation Paralegal will work directly with attorneys to manage case files, conduct legal research, draft legal documents, and assist in trial preparation. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities

Support attorney in all stages of civil litigation, including discovery, motion practice, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.

Draft, review, and format pleadings, discovery requests/responses, subpoenas, correspondence, and other legal documents.

Manage case files, maintain calendars, and track deadlines to ensure timely filings and compliance with court rules.

Conduct legal research and summarize findings for attorney review.

Coordinate and prepare exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders for hearings and trial.

File documents with state and federal courts (electronic and physical filings).

Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, court staff, and expert witnesses as needed.

Perform administrative tasks as assigned to support attorneys and ensure smooth case management.
Qualifications

Education: Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program or equivalent experience required.

Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience as a Paralegal, with a strong background in civil litigation.

Skills:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, legal research tools (LexisNexis,), and case management software.

Strong understanding of California Code of Civil Procedure and local court rules.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple cases.

Preferred: Experience working in a small law firm environment.
