Job Description
Pay: $23.00/hr + $4.00/hr shift differential = $27.00/hr
Shift: 3rd Shift | 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM (Training will occur on 1st or 2nd shift)
Location: San Marcos, CA
Type: Contract to Hire
We’re seeking a mechanically inclined and dependable Expansion Operator to join a leading plastics manufacturing company in San Marcos. This is a direct hire opportunity on 3rd shift, ideal for candidates with experience in expansion or extrusion machinery. What You'll Do:

Set up and operate expansion machines to produce high-quality expanded tubing and plastic materials

Follow detailed Work Orders, Shop Orders, and Engineering Work Instructions to meet customer specifications

Monitor equipment performance and make adjustments to ensure product quality and consistency

Troubleshoot minor issues related to diameter, wall thickness, surface quality, and color variations

Perform and assist with basic preventative maintenance on machines

Maintain accurate tooling and inspection tools, reporting any wear or damage

Keep work area clean and safe by following company safety policies and housekeeping standards
What We’re Looking For:

High School Diploma or GED required

Prior experience with expansion or extrusion machines in a plastics or manufacturing setting preferred

Mechanically inclined with the ability to follow fixed processes and adapt to production variables

Able to read and comprehend detailed work instructions

Strong basic math skills (to calculate inside diameter, wall thickness, length, etc.)

Able to lift up to 40–75 lbs and perform tasks involving bending and twisting

Reliable, safety-conscious, and a strong team player
