Position Overview
Our client is a well established manufacturing organization seeking an experienced Master Scheduler to lead planning activities that align demand forecasts, inventory objectives, and production schedules.
This role partners closely with Sales, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain leadership to ensure material availability, production flow, and inventory optimization across the operation. The position also provides leadership and oversight to a small team of planning professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee production and materials planning activities to support forecasted demand and inventory objectives
- Translate monthly sales forecasts into actionable production and material plans within an ERP?based planning system
- Supervise and support planners to ensure timely execution of MRP?driven purchasing and production actions
- Develop and maintain realistic, executable production schedules aligned with demand variability, inventory targets, and capacity constraints
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to balance run rates, equipment availability, and material flow for efficient execution
- Coordinate planning and material readiness for new product introductions, including tooling and fixture timelines
- Analyze demand trends and forecasts to support product life?cycle planning decisions
- Maintain ongoing cross?functional communication to proactively address shortages, constraints, and priority shifts
- Adjust production and demand plans based on customer priorities, inventory availability, and operational limitations
- Use data analysis to identify performance risks (downtime, shortages, plan instability) and recommend corrective actions
- Perform root cause analysis on planning or execution issues and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Track, analyze, and report weekly and monthly production performance against plans
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Proven experience in production scheduling and materials planning within a manufacturing environment
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Master Production Scheduling (MPS)
- Material Requirements Planning (MRP)
- ERP based planning tools
- Experience implementing or improving planning systems preferred
- Solid understanding of inventory management principles and demand planning fundamentals
- Ability to analyze complex data sets and translate insights into executable plans
- Comfortable working cross?functionally with Manufacturing, Sales, Engineering, and Purchasing
- Prior experience in regulated or ISO driven manufacturing environments
- Professional certifications such as CPIM and/or CSCP are a plus
- Strong statistical and analytical aptitude
