Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Compensation: $28.00 – $34.00/hour BOE

Job Summary:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of machinery and equipment through preventive and corrective maintenance. This role involves troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, installing and repairing automated machinery, and supporting production operations by minimizing equipment downtime.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance, repair, replacement, and troubleshooting on mechanical, electrical/electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.

  • Identify equipment issues through direct observation, diagnostic tools, and schematics.

  • Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance on production equipment to ensure consistent operation.

  • Install and maintain piping systems, hydraulic and pneumatic components.

  • Program, repair, and troubleshoot automated equipment, including PLCs and robotics.

  • Operate machine tools (lathe, drill press, grinder, etc.) to fabricate or repair parts.

  • Inspect components for wear, misalignment, or mechanical faults using precision tools.

  • Use welding and cutting tools for equipment modifications and repairs.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, electrical and hydraulic schematics, and ladder logic.

  • Safely operate forklifts, hoists, slings, and other material handling equipment.

  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained.

  • Collaborate with vendors and service providers when necessary.

  • Follow all safety protocols, wear required PPE, and report unsafe conditions immediately.

  • Support and contribute to team goals, process improvement, and key performance indicators.

  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs in the CMMS database.

  • Participate in training and mentoring of junior maintenance staff.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support department and company operations.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Connect to and troubleshoot PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers); upload, download, monitor, and modify logic.

  • Validate proper machine setup and functionality post-repair or installation.

  • Assist in developing and refining maintenance procedures and checklists.

  • Recognize and report equipment failure or safety risks promptly.

  • Engage in continuous learning through classes, workshops, or certifications.

  • Must be flexible with overtime and schedule changes as needed to meet business demands.

Required Qualifications:

  • 2- or 4-year technical degree or certificate OR 5–10 years of relevant experience in an industrial manufacturing setting, or a combination of both.

  • 2–5 years of hands-on experience in preventive/corrective maintenance within one or more of the following: Injection Molding, Compression Molding, Composite or Roto Mold environments.

  • Strong ability to read mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic schematics and blueprints.

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written; able to produce clear reports and collaborate with team members.

  • Solid math skills including geometry, trigonometry, and working with ratios and percentages.

  • Proven problem-solving skills in environments with minimal standardization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with the following equipment:

    • Haitian, JSW, Husky, Uniloy molding machines

    • Star & Yushin robots

    • Ferry rotational molding machines

    • Martin pultrusion molding machines

    • Conair, Universal Dynamics, Matsui dryers

  • Prior certification or training in forklift, scissor lift, or boom lift operation.

  • Formal electrical training (certification or coursework) is highly preferred.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints is required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 lbs and perform physical activities including walking, standing, bending, kneeling, crawling, and climbing.

  • Regular exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and chemicals; must work around heavy machinery.

  • Must be able to work at heights and wear visual/auditory PPE as needed.

  • Frequent use of hand tools and foot controls.
