CNC Lathe Machinist

Pay Rate: $25–$28 per hour (depending on experience)
Location: Carlsbad, CA
Schedule: Full-Time | On-site
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Lathe Machinist with strong setup and machining expertise to support precision manufacturing operations. This role is ideal for a self-motivated machinist who can independently set up, run, and troubleshoot CNC lathe jobs from start to finish while maintaining the highest quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform independent CNC lathe setups, including loading programs, setting tools, and dialing in fixtures
- Set up and run jobs from start to finish with minimal supervision
- Read and interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T specifications
- Inspect first articles and make accurate offsets and adjustments to meet tight tolerances
- Troubleshoot setup- and machining-related issues to maintain production flow
- Collaborate with programming and quality teams to optimize setups and improve efficiency
- Maintain a clean, organized work area in compliance with 5S and safety standards
- Minimum 5+ years of CNC setup experience (lathe-focused)
- Strong working knowledge of G-code, tooling, and workholding strategies
- Proficient with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, indicators, etc.)
- Excellent problem-solving skills with sharp attention to detail
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately
- Strong sense of ownership, quality, and accountability
