Job Description
Job Summary: The Dental Assistant plays a key role in delivering high-quality patient care within a team-oriented environment. Under the direction of the Staff Dentists, the Dental Assistant performs essential chairside procedures, maintains a safe and efficient environment, and ensures proper cleaning and sterilization of dental instruments. Additionally, the Dental Assistant supports patient education efforts, assisting in the delivery of oral health information to patients and their caregivers.
In addition to clinical duties, the Dental Assistant also contributes to front office operations, providing excellent customer service to patients and caregivers, and ensuring smooth administrative processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Chairside Assistance: Perform basic dental procedures and assist the Staff Dentists during treatments, ensuring a safe and effective clinical environment.
- Instrument Management: Properly clean, sterilize, and organize dental instruments and equipment in compliance with safety and infection control standards.
- Patient Education: Support patient education efforts by explaining dental procedures, preventive care, and oral health instructions to patients and their caregivers.
- Operational Maintenance: Ensure that operatories are well-maintained, stocked, and in a safe, operational condition.
- Front Office Support: Assist with patient check-in/check-out, scheduling, and answering phone calls, while maintaining a high level of customer service and patient satisfaction.
- Collaboration: Work as part of the dental team to promote a positive and efficient environment that prioritizes patient care and overall health center goals.
Qualifications:
- Certification or degree from an accredited Dental Assistant program.
- High School diploma or equivalent education required
- Current state dental assisting certification.
- Knowledge of dental procedures, instruments, and infection control protocols.
- Strong communication skills and a passion for providing excellent patient care.
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
- Previous dental assisting experience is preferred but not required.
