Job Description

 
Our client is a privately held, manufacturing focused organization seeking an experienced Controller to lead accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial records, maintains compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and serves as a trusted financial partner to executive leadership.

The Controller will manage day to day accounting functions while contributing strategically to profitability analysis, cash flow optimization, systems improvement, and financial governance within a private industry environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all accounting activities, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue recognition, and inventory accounting
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Oversee annual budgeting, forecasting, and long?range financial planning processes
  • Analyze profitability by customer group, product line, or business segment
  • Develop, implement, and maintain effective accounting policies and internal control systems
  • Conduct bank covenant compliance analysis and ongoing financial covenant monitoring
  • Partner cross functionally with operations and leadership to drive cost control and process improvement initiatives
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a professional accounting team
  • Coordinate external audits, tax preparation, and compliance activities
  • Lead year end close, interim reporting, and regulatory reporting requirements
  • Present clear, concise financial insights and operational metrics to executive leadership
  • Manage cash flow, liquidity planning, and working capital forecasting
  • Support internal control compliance initiatives and audit readiness
  • Assist with financial systems maintenance, upgrades, and reporting enhancements

Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, Master's degree is highly desired
  • 5+ years of experience managing a professional accounting team
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience overseeing full cycle accounting in a private industry setting
  • Familiarity with ERP based financial systems in manufacturing environments
  • Proven experience supporting audits, tax filings, and external financial partners
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills

Preferred Background
  • Private industry accounting experience
  • Exposure to inventory driven or cost of goods accounting environments
  • Experience with ERP or financial system implementations or upgrades
  • Professional certifications such as CPA preferred
