CNC Set Up Machinist – 2nd Shift

We are seeking a talented and experienced CNC Set Up Machinist to join our team on the 2nd shift. Job Summary:
As a CNC Set Up Machinist, you will be responsible for preparing, programming, and setting up CNC milling and turning centers to ensure efficient production of high-quality parts. Your expertise will help optimize machining processes, uphold quality standards, and maintain a safe, organized work environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up and program CNC mills and lathes using advanced software such as Mastercam 2025 for 3, 4, and 5-axis machining.
  • Review engineering drawings and specifications to determine setup procedures and inspection criteria.
  • Confirm tooling and fixturing are appropriate and in good condition; design workholding and special tooling for complex parts.
  • Perform in-process checks and inspections using precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges) to verify dimensions and conformance to specifications.
  • Ensure tool offsets, edge breaking, and other setup adjustments are accurately executed for maximum efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with programming and production teams to support seamless operations and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor cycle times, reduce scrap to a minimum, and maintain high standards of quality and productivity.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area following 5S principles.
  • Follow all safety and company procedures to promote a safe working environment.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience setting up and programming CNC machining centers, including 3 and 5-axis work.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Strong proficiency with CNC programming software, specifically Mastercam (latest versions preferred).
  • Experience with aerospace manufacturing environments is a plus.
  • Skilled in using precision inspection tools for quality verification.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, adjust, and optimize CNC programs as needed.
  • Knowledge of workholding, tooling design, and fixture setup.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements:
  • Must be able to stand, walk, climb stairs, bend, stoop, and reach in a manufacturing setting.
  • Capable of lifting up to 40 pounds occasionally.
  • This role involves working within a manufacturing facility with safety as a top priority.
