Medical Biller - AR/Collections
Job Description
We are seeking experienced Medical Billers with a strong background in Accounts Receivable and Medical Collections. This role is responsible for managing aged balances, resolving denied or underpaid claims, and ensuring timely and accurate reimbursement from insurance carriers and patients.
Job Duration
This is a contract opportunity for a 3-6 month project. There is a possibility of contract extension based on business needs.
Schedule: 7:00AM - 3:30PM Monday to Friday
Key Responsibilities:
- Work A/R reports to resolve outstanding balances
- Process payments and follow up on claims from various payer types (HMO, PPO, Medi-Cal, Medicare, etc.)
- Reprocess denied or underpaid claims and submit appeals as needed
- Update patient accounts with current insurance or billing information
- Prepare accounts for approvals to send to collections
- Document all actions taken in EPIC for claim and account resolution
- Respond to insurance correspondence and submit supporting documentation as required
- Ensure all claims are submitted in a timely and accurate manner
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
- 3 - 5 years of patient accounts experience in a healthcare setting
- Proficient in working A/R and insurance collections
- Strong understanding of billing systems (EPIC preferred) and payer requirements
- Ability to work independently and solve problems efficiently
- Strong communication and organizational skills
