Paralegal, Legal Assistant
Job Description
Orange County based Property Management and Development company is seeking a strategic and forward-thinking Legal Assistant – Property Evictions.
Monday - Friday (9AM - 5PM)
As an important asset to company’s culture and values, you will work closely with our clients and outside attorney in order to provide the proper legal action to follow California's complex eviction procedures. You will be the point of contact for our company during ongoing trials and cases, as well handle all of the legal paperwork in regards to collections and notices. You will report directly to management with the intended goal of resolving the eviction process in the most efficient and effective manner and be a main line of communication between the attorney and the clients.as
Responsibilities/Job Duties
- Work closely with an outside attorney to prepare files for unlawful detainer cases.
- Pull resident records, audit resident accounts, draft notices, and track open cases from start to finish.
- Correspond directly with clients and be a liaison between the client and the attorney.
- Keep clients updated as cases progress through the court system and educate them on the eviction process.
- Collect delinquent account balances from residents.
- Utilize in in-house database to track evictions as well as maintain proper organization to legal files.
- Compose and prepare routine correspondence, rental notices, and other letters and memorandums.
- May perform other duties as assigned by management.
Job Requirements
- 2-3 years of experience working in a law office assisting an Attorney
- Experience organizing case documents and direct client interaction
- Analytical, problem-solving, and legal management skills.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent follow-through skills and the ability to anticipate and address issues before they arise.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment with a strong sense of urgency.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Knowledge of the Microsoft Office & Excel
Additional Qualifications [Plus]
- 2+ years of Property management experience
- Experience in eviction law
- Knowledge of small claims law
