Sr. CNC Programmer
Job Description
$80k - $105k DOE
- Write or modify advanced close tolerance programs for CNC machines in the language of the machine’s controller.
- Analyze drawings, sketches, blueprints and/or schematics of part to determine dimension and configuration of cuts, machine speeds and feed rates, according to knowledge of machining processes, part specifications and machine capabilities.
- Determine the sequence of machine operations and select the proper cutting tools needed to machine workpieces into desired shapes.
- Determine and document reference points and direction of machine cutting paths.
- Writes program of machine instructions to regulate movement of machine along cutting path.
- Writes instruction sheets and cutter lists to guide setup and operation of machine.
- Revise programs to eliminate errors or omissions and retest programs to check that problems have been resolved.
- May operate machine to test program effectiveness.
- Work with cross-functional teams to ensure program effectiveness.
- Observe machine operation to prove programmed instructions are accurate and/or troubleshoot in-process machining issues that may arise.
- Demonstrates ability to appear for work on time, follow directions from a supervisor, interact well with co-workers, understand and follow work rules and procedures, comply with company policies and procedures, goals and objectives, and accepts constructive feedback.
- Other duties as assigned, requested or needed.
- High school diploma or General Education Development (GED).
- Minimum 10 years Mastercam programming experience or equivalent of education and experience.
- Minimum 5 years CNC machining experience preferred.
- Experience with Mastercam programming software preferred.
- Knowledge of alloys and metals such as Inconel, titanium, stainless steel.
- Knowledge of Fanuc, and Mitsubishi controllers.
- Knowledge of computer aided design (CAD) software.
- Knowledge of computer and computer systems to program.
- Knowledge of and experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GDT)
- Ability understand and follow standard operating and safety procedures.
- Ability to prioritize and handle workflow.
- Ability to pay attention to detail and thorough in completing tasks.
- Read and comprehend verbal and written instructions.
